The "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" is back once again this year to share the wonderful story of love, forgiveness, and happiness.  The Robert Morris University Island Sports Center Figure Skating Academy members will bring the cherished story back to life in a fresh new way at The Rink at PPG Place!  Come and enjoy this theatrical on-ice presentation of a man whose heart was two sizes too small.

TRIBUTE OF LIGHT / PLAZA TREE LIGHTING
5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Plaza will glisten with the glow of candlelight as over 300 individuals carrying hand-held Tributes of Light candles will surround The Rink at PPG Place. Each candle will be dedicated in the name of someone touched by cancer. The candlelit ceremony culminates with the lighting of the breathtaking 65' Plaza Christmas tree by 8-year-old cancer survivor, Eliot Jay Wilpula from Crafton, Pa.   The candles will surround the perimeter of The Rink throughout the evening as a glowing tribute to these individuals. All proceeds from this event will benefit The American Cancer Society.

Light the Way to a Cure! A candle's glow can help light the way to a cure. Remember or honor a loved one that has been affected by cancer by purchasing a candle to be carried during the breathtaking Tribute of Light Celebration at The Rink at PPG Place on Light Up Night. PPG Place's annual holiday exhibits open for the season on Light-Up Night, Friday, November 21, and continue daily through January 7.   Click the links above for information on the Wintergarden Holiday Exhibits and Gingerbread House Display and Competition.

SPIRITS OF GIVING FROM AROUND THE WORLD EXHIBIT

See the splendor of the holidays come alive during PPG Place's breathtaking "Spirits of Giving From Around the World" exhibit. This enchanting display of life-size Santas and original paintings captures a whole world of Christmas folklore and fantasy.

The exhibit comes alive with a collection of original paintings, each depicting holiday celebrations around the world.

Capture memories of Christmases past in the Wintergarden where a tree larger than any from your childhood awaits you. Our spectacular 32-foot tree is surrounded by a showcase of gingerbread houses and a unique train display created by local artist Don Jones.

SEASONAL MUSIC: Hear a variety of seasonal music performed by area musicians daily throughout the month of December.

 

GINGERBREAD HOUSE  AND TRAIN DISPLAY

It's "Home SWEET Home" in the PPG Place Wintergarden and Two PPG Place  where a collection of unique gingerbread houses created by local individuals are encircled by a holiday train display.   Houses can be purchased with a donation to Children's Hospital's Free Care Fund.  Contact Carla Roehner at ppggingerbreadhouse@comcast.net for further information.

 The houses are surrounded by a unique exhibit of  trains created by local artist, Don Jones.

    Stop in the Food Court in Two PPG Place and get the whole family in the spirit of the season with this delightful show combining holiday stories with unique balloon sculptures.

Trombones on Ice 2008 celebrates their 8th Anniversary!  Don't miss this unique holiday performance by an impromptu ensemble of over 100 trombone, baritone, euphonium, and tuba players featuring favorite carols and holiday songs.
